Job summary

Energy Network Services Inc. in Canada’s energy sector seeks a Journeyperson electrician to plan layouts, install and repair wiring, fixtures and control equipment for commercial lighting systems.

The candidate should have lighting experience and solid customer service focus, while upholding safety standards. You will work across various lighting installations, ensure compliance with safety codes, mentor apprentices, and support ongoing energy efficiency projects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have a valid Journeyperson license (Construction Electrician).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass security background check.
  • Applicable training certificates (Fall Protection, First Aid, Aerial Work Platform) may be required.
  • Ability to multitask while staying organized and maintain strong communication skills.
  • Experience in lighting is a requirement and shifts include days, nights, and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares sketches showing wiring locations or follows diagrams to install wiring before walls/ceilings are finished.
  • Plans installations to minimize material waste and ensure future maintenance access.
  • Plans layout and installation of wiring and equipment per job specs and local codes.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, switches, relays, and switchgear; runs feeders and power systems.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems to maintain reliability.
  • Works from ladders or scaffolds to install/maintain/repair wiring and fixtures.
  • Advises management on potential hazards of equipment operation.
  • Trains apprentices as required.

As a Journeyperson, you will plan layouts, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for various lighting industries. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial lighting and electrical maintenance, as well as promote the core values of Energy Network Services Inc. through excellent customer service and assuring the safety of all work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, safety codes and local electrical codes.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels; install electrical feeders, power systems and/or switchgear.
  • Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Train apprentices as required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • Musthave a valid Journeyperson’s License (Construction Electrician Occupation)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Applicable training certificates as required (Fall Protection, First Aid, Aerial Work Platform
  • Must be able to pass a security background check
  • Valid government reliability clearance preferred
  • Ability to multitask while staying organized
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Positive customer service skills
  • Experience in lighting is a requirement
  • Must be available to work day, nights and evening shifts
