Job summary

Aspen Custom Trailers, Inc. is seeking experienced metal fabricators with strong GMAW and blueprint-reading skills to join our Edmonton area shop.

You will plan, cut, fit, weld, and assemble components, while maintaining safety and quality standards on a busy heavy haul line. Day and afternoon shifts available with premium for the late shift, and opportunities for apprentices aiming to become welders/fitters.

Qualifications

Alberta Journeyman Metal Fabricator Fitter Ticket or Red Seal Certification or equivalent experience.
GMAW welding experience required.
Proven ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams; perform numerical conversions.
Plan task sequence and optimize cutting of steel.
Determine materials needed and source from stock; mark patterns as required.
Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, and roll.
Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form units; fasten components securely.
Operate welding and fabrication tools; ensure quality and safety standards.

We are looking for experienced metal fabricators that can do metal core flat and horizontal GMAW.

Only candidates living in Leduc, Edmonton or surrounding area will be considered

Aspen is looking for new team members to add to our growing workforce. We continue to grow and have many openings. Apprentices wanting to become Welder / Fitters are welcome to apply. Two shifts available. Shift premiums. Large clean indoor shop with safe work practices. Be a part of a great team of long service employees. Primary Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams. Numerical conversions required.
Plan the sequence of tasks and decide how to cut the steel most efficiently.
Determine the materials required and obtain them from stock.
Develop and/or mark patterns if required.
Use metal-working machines and cutting torches to cut steel, drill or punch holes, and roll.
Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units.
Fasten components together.
Ability to use welding and fabrication tools.
Quality assurance and control.
Ensures effective equipment maintenance, safety and housekeeping standards are maintained.
Build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
Ensure that the overhead crane is used in a safe manner.

Qualifications

Alberta Journeyman Metal Fabricator Fitter Ticket or Red Seal Certification
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements

Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
Weld test required
Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided), PPE required (Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection)
