Job summary

North American Construction Group (NACG) is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off Road) for our Acheson Shop. The role offers a combined gross rate up to $59.90/hour with room for growth and a 7x7, 12-hour rotating schedule.

Responsibilities include repairs/rebuilds on mining equipment, preventative maintenance, and mentoring apprentices. Benefits, relocation help, and rapid onboarding are available. Join a safety‑driven team with strong union support.

Qualifications

• Alberta Journeyperson cert or Red Seal required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience post certification on large mining equipment.
• Strong diagnostic & troubleshooting skills required.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Professional work behaviours essential.
• Commitment to continuous learning.
• Cat SIS/CAT ET experience is an asset.
• Basic computer skills expected.
• Demonstrated leadership in daily work interactions.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs/rebuilds on mining equipment (Cat D8–D11 dozers, 777–797 haul trucks, 16–24 graders; some Hitachi and Komatsu).
• Collaborate with supervision, planning and safety teams.
• Perform preventative maintenance, rebuilds, and component changeouts.
• Check performance and inspect for faults.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Test repaired equipment to meet manufacturer specs.
• Develop work scopes and parts lists for repairs.
• Follow schedules, generate crossover reports, and complete work orders.
• Mentor and evaluate apprentices and other mechanics.
• Adhere to NACG codes and Safe Operating Procedures.
• Primarily shop work; may visit the Acheson yard.
• Other duties as assigned.
