Job summary

BFG Enterprise is seeking an Electrician responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and control devices at Calgary sites.

You will interpret drawings and codes, splice wires, install equipment, and maintain systems while ensuring safety and compliance. The role requires 5+ years in a retail environment and a valid 309A certificate, with the possibility of night shifts and premiums.

Qualifications

• Minimum 309A certification and own tools and PPE.
• 5+ years experience in a retail environment.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with clean abstract.
• Access to personal vehicle for travel to sites.
• Ability to work at heights safely.
• Health & Safety, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform training.
• Strong attention to detail and prioritization.
• Excellent customer service and communication with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specs.
• Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and form circuits.
• Install brackets, hangers, lighting fixtures and control equipment.
• Assemble, install, test and maintain wiring and fixtures with hand/power tools.
• Inspect systems for hazards, defects and code compliance.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and tools.
• Connect power to AV, signaling, heating and cooling systems.
• Work safely and keep a organized work area, following policies.
• Collaborate with team to meet site objectives and maintain professionalism.
• Night shifts may be required with premium pay.
• Responsible for materials, tools and paperwork.

Job description

Role: Responsible for laying out, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, and control devices.

Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations

• Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits; pull wires through conduits and through holes in walls and floors; install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment; install, replace, repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools

• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with code

• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem

• Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systems; connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components

• Work in a safe manner, maintaining a safe and organized work area by observing all safety policies and procedures, applying safety training

• Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common project /site objectives. Always exhibit positive and professional attitude and behaviour.

• Emergency standby generator experience an asset.

• Responsible for materials, tools, and appropriate paperwork.

• Must be able and willing to work nights (will receive a night shift premium)

Qualifications:

• Possess 309A Certification and own tools and personal safety equipment

• Have 5+ years experience working in a retail environment

• Possess and provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver's licence and produce a clean driver's abstract upon hire

• Must have access to a personal vehicle for independent travel to and from job sites

• Be willing and able to work at heights

• Have valid Health & Safety, Working at Heights, and Elevated Work Platform training.

• Have strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and organize work

• Have excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with clients and internal BFG staff
