Job summary

Silent-Aire Limited Partnership is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician for our Nisku facility. The role involves installing and terminating conduit, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components for data center systems.

Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, assembling control panels, training apprentices, and maintaining detailed maintenance reports. Night shifts occur Monday-Thursday or Friday-Sunday, with safety at the forefront of all tasks.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Journeyperson Electrician.
  • Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with quality standards.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring apprentices.

  • Adhere to assembly and installation instructions from vendor manuals.
  • Complete and update assigned work orders daily.
  • Supervise and mentor junior employees and apprentices; inspect their work.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Keep up to date with changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.
  • Monitor parts usage and report material issues.
  • Prepare preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Propose changes to plans to improve operations and efficiency.
  • Install and terminate conduit, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and control components.
  • Construct and wire control panels and systems; perform wiring check out.
  • Install interlocking wiring and ensure proper compliance with NEC/NESC/NFPA/UFC.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors and devices.
  • Follow Silent-Aire safety program and Alberta safety regulations.

Overview

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is a global leader in owner equipment manufacturing (OEM) dedicated to providing custom solutions for data center customers. This role is located at our facility in Nisku and you must have a reliable transportation to commute.

This role will be offered to work Monday to Thursday Nightshift (6:15 PM - 5:45 AM) or Friday to Sunday Nightshift (6:00 PM - 5:30 AM).

The Journeyperson Electrician is primarily responsible for installing and terminating conduit, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components and devices for Silent-Aire Limited Partnership. This position constructs and fabricates control panels/systems and installs interlocking wiring and performs wiring check out.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.

  • Adhere to assembly and installation instructions set forth in vendor manuals.

  • Complete and update assigned work orders daily.

  • Assist in training, directing, and supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.

  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.

  • Monitor parts usage and report on any materials issues.

  • Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.

  • Propose changes or modifications to plans to enhance operation and efficiency of systems plans and specifications for facilities.

  • Install and terminate conduit, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components and devices.

  • Construct and fabricate control panels and rough and finish wiring and control systems.

  • Install interlocking wiring and perform wiring check out.

  • Install system components and wiring in compliance with the NEC, NESC, NFPA and the UFC.

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Licensed Journeyperson Electrician.

  • Experience in moving, assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment.

  • Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

  • Familiarity with quality standards.

  • Accurate and highly analytical.

  • Experience in supervising and mentoring apprentices.

  • Experience with routine electrical maintenance operations an asset.

  • Able to work well under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Commercial/Industrial environment.

  • Manual dexterity required to use necessary tools.

  • Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.

  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).

  • Long periods of standing.

  • Overtime as required.
