Job summary

GDI Ainsworth in Lethbridge is seeking Controls Journeyman Electricians to join our growing automation team. You will install, commission and service commercial building automation systems and work from plans and specifications.

The role involves low voltage work, wiring, BAS delivery, site commissioning and solving complex electrical challenges. We value strong English communication, safety, and a commitment to learning within a fast-growing, team-oriented environment in Alberta.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license.
• Clear communications in English – both written and oral.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ambitious learner who wants to progress in their career for building systems.
• Experience working with low voltage.
• Experience with HVAC, building automation systems and VFD’s an asset.
• Experience with programming languages or IT infrastructure an asset.
• Experience in PLC an asset.
• Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
• Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
• Commercial / Construction installations experience

Responsibilities

• Installs, wiring, BMS and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of installations.
• Repairs and maintains low voltage systems (under 120V).
• Assist in delivering BAS solutions to our customer base within the Construction/Operation Department.
• Assist with site commissioning, point to point verifications, troubleshooting and startup of a variety of Building Automation Systems.
• Appropriately handles and is familiar with all testing and electrical repair tools and equipment.
• Perform tasks with minimum supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth GDI Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
• Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
• Understand fundamentals of how HVAC systems operate on commercial buildings.
• Work with and understand HVAC and Digital Control fundamentals.

Position Summary
