Job summary

Magna IV Engineering in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to support project teams and field projects; responsible for repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.

Reporting to the Technical Field Services Manager, the successful candidate will work on low to high voltage systems in diverse environments, travel as needed, and ensure safe, high-quality service for our clients.

Qualifications

• Hands on experience with electrical maintenance (low to high voltage).
• Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments.
• Trade or technical school certification required; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Repair, terminate and troubleshoot LV/MV/HV power cables and terminations.
• Work safely on electrical systems across various environments.
• Test and diagnose cable health using standard methods; document findings.
• Interact with clients professionally and support project teams on field work.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Journeyman Electrician in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Technical Field Services Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable to support project teams and field projects; ultimately providing exceptional client service through repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.

Accountabilities:

• Repair, Terminate and troubleshoot low, medium and high voltage power cables. Installations to include heat shrink, cold shrink and Pfisterer terminations experience is an asset but not required.
• Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, pipeline and oil and gas experience is an asset but not required.
• Testing and diagnosis of cable health via DC, VLF / Tan Delta and Partial Discharge Test methods experience is an asset but not required.
• Confidently work with various brands of test and troubleshooting equipment experience is an asset but not required.
• Complete technical report writing
• Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner
• Identify and implement process improvements
• Various other duties as required

Requirements

• Hands on experience with electrical maintenance (low to high voltage power)
• Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments
• Trade or tech school certification required
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to self-manage with proven initiative and client focus
• Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment
• Excellent time management skills with an attention to detail
• The ability to travel to remotes sites, work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
