Job summary

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a Concrete Finisher Journeyman for projects in Mayo, Yukon, CA. The role involves placing and finishing poured concrete surfaces, including floors and sidewalks, and ensuring surfaces meet plan specifications.

You will grind and rub surfaces for uniformity and supervise finish work on site with a focus on safety and quality. The position requires the ability to work outdoors in all weather, climb and work at heights, and operate a range of hand and power tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with field experience preferred.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Apprentices are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Move discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms, then spread, level and smooth.
• Check forms for proper construction and alignment.
• Finish concrete using chisels, grinders, and hand tools to remove high spots.
• Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools and straightedge.
• Monitor curing conditions related to wind, heat, or cold.
• Use concrete vibrators to consolidate concrete.
• Ensure proper use of equipment and materials; report unsafe conditions.
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, and resources for work activities.
• Inspect workers' output for compliance with plans and specs.
