Job summary

South East Cornerstone Public School Division is seeking a permanent full-time Journeyman Carpenter to service the South Service Area. Reporting to the Facilities Foreman, the role supports project planning, budget management and code interpretation within our facilities portfolio.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Journeyman Certificate in carpentry, have at least three years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry, and be able to work independently while promoting safe work

Qualifications

Must have Grade 12 or GED.
Must hold a valid Journeyman Certificate in carpentry.
Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial or residential carpentry.
Knowledge of safety procedures for building systems.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for facilities.
Coordinate capital projects and renovations.
Provide leadership, planning, coaching, and reviewing.
Maintain positive working rapport with school administration, staff and public.
Keep updated on codes and regulations; liaise with inspectors.
Advise operating staff on safe, efficient operation of building systems.
Supervise contractors engaged in maintenance work.
Assist in emergencies and re-secure buildings.
Promote safe work practices and procedures.
Prepare reports on budget, cost estimates and planning.
