Job summary

Arbutus Properties in Regina, SK, is seeking a Journeyman Carpenter to lead framing and finish carpentry on multi-family residential projects. Reporting to the site superintendent, you will ensure quality and compliance with building codes while maintaining a safe, tidy job site.

The ideal candidate has a valid Journeyman Carpenter ticket or is in a 4th-year apprenticeship, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor less experienced workers on a busy site.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential framing and finish carpentry.
• Journeyman status or enrolled as a 4th-year apprentice.
• Strong knowledge of building and safety codes.
• Organized, reliable and good communicator on site.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to building code and corporate safety requirements on all sites
• Carpentry work that falls outside of the scope of work of subtrades
• Oversight of subtrade work
• Perform touch ups and repairs on subtrade deficiencies
• Perform frame checks and mechanical checks
• Finish carpentry work
• Quality management inspections and reporting
• Report issues as they arise to the superintendent
• Proficient knowledge and use of power tools such as air nailers, skill saw, screw gun
• Mentor novice workers
• Other tasks as required by the site foreman / site superintendent

Summary

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Journeyman Carpenter selected will be responsible for the completion of carpentry work and quality management, ensuring the compliance with local building code and company safety policy. The Journeyman Carpenter is also responsible for general site maintenance and clean-up as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Experience in residential framing
• Journeyperson Carpenter or enrollment in apprenticeship program as a 4th year Apprentice Carpenter
• Experience in finish carpentry is an asset
• Quality control experience for framing is an asset
• Equipment operation experience is an asset (zoom boom / skid steer)
  
• Knowledge of building code and safety code requirements
  
• Be organized, interpersonal and strong communicator with the ability to build excellent relationships with subtrades and workers on site
• Candidate must have excellent time management skills, have the ability to prioritize work and be results driven
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong understanding of quality standards
• Highly organized, results-oriented and able to work in a multi-functional team environment
