Job summary

Chandos Construction in Canada is seeking skilled Journeyperson Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters for project work. This on-site role focuses on formwork, framing, finishing, and structural repairs across diverse sites, with travel required.

You will read blueprints, estimate materials, and work closely with the site superintendent to deliver high-quality outcomes safely and efficiently. Strong communication and time management are essential.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate or equivalent, Red Seal preferred, willingness to obtain Red Seal
• Registered 1st-4th year Apprentice Carpenter status and actively working in trade
• Strong knowledge of construction practices and safety protocols
• Proficiency in blueprint reading, layout and materials estimation
• Competency with hand and power tools and safe work procedures
• SiteReadyBC preferred
• WHMIS 2015 required
• First Aid/CPR preferred
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate clearly
• Willing and able to travel out of town

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, specifications, building codes, and superintendent directions
• Lay foundations, plan tasks, and perform carpentry activities
• Estimate materials and ensure adequate supply
• Prepare framing for concrete, formwork, and cement pours
• Perform internal and external structural repairs
• Construct stairs, framing, and other components with proper tools
• Set up scaffolding and maintain safe height work
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
• Maintain daily task logs and preventative maintenance schedules
• Collaborate with superintendent and follow quality control systems
• Adhere to safety policies and regulations
