Job summary

Prince Albert Housing Authority is seeking a full-time Journeyman Carpenter to maintain residential buildings and prepare vacant units. The role includes day-to-day carpentry work and coordinating with management, staff and tenants to keep properties in good condition.

Applicants should have Grade 12 education with Journeyman status in Carpentry and at least 3 years of maintenance/renovations experience, plus strong communication skills and the ability to participate in on-call coverage

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stress and prioritize workloads while respecting diversity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Regular on-call emergencies including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Position

• Maintenance of residential buildings
• Vacant unit preparation
• Day to day carpentry related work

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Knowledge of the basic techniques employed in a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, flooring, and electrical
• Capability to maintain a high standard of unit maintenance, including preventative and corrective maintenance of building
• Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with management, staff, and tenants
• Ensure day to day operations are handling promptly and effectively

Qualifications

• Grade 12 education, supplemented with Journeymans status in Carpentry plus 3 years experience in a maintenance and renovations environment
• Self-motivated with the ability to handle stress, while prioritizing workloads and respecting peoples diversity and individual differences
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to participate in a regular, continuous on call program for emergencies, including evening, weekend, and holiday coverage
• A valid drivers license, reliable, roadworthy vehicle, and an approved Enhanced (Vulnerable Sector) criminal record check are conditions of employment
