Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) invites students to join the Commercial Operations Team for 8 months in Calgary. You will support Joint Venture governance, contract administration, and partner engagement while developing communication and data analysis skills.

You will collaborate with Land, Accounting, and Operations to resolve issues, improve processes, and contribute to quantitative insights using Power BI or Tableau.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergrad degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, or related program.
  • Land Administration certificate or Energy Asset Management program is acceptable.
  • Able to use Excel and Word effectively for reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to JV governance and ownership management activities.
  • Coordinate contract and commercial agreement administration.
  • Review AFE, coordinate approvals, and engage partners.
  • Collaborate with Land, Accounting, Operations, and others to support JV activities.
  • Analyze data, resolve inquiries, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Leverage Power BI/Tableau to drive process improvements and reporting.

Do you have strong attention to detail and a drive to find ways of becoming more efficient in your role? If so, we may have an opportunity for you! As a student working as a part of the Commercial Operations Team focusing on Joint Ventures, you will provide critical administrative and operational support. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including Land, Accounting, and Operations, while developing strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term starts: January or May 2027

Key Accountabilities
  • Contribute to team success through a variety of projects, operational activities, and continuous improvement initiatives involving:
    • Contract and commercial agreement administration
    • AFE review, approval coordination, and partner engagement
    • Joint Venture governance and ownership management
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Land, Accounting, Operations, and other business areas to support Joint Venture activities and team objectives
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve business issues, stakeholder inquiries, and data discrepancies through root cause analysis, critical thinking, and sound business judgement
  • Leverage data analytics and visualization to drive process improvements and support informed decision making
  • Support the development, documentation, and optimization of business processes, controls and best practices
What You Bring To The Role
  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a Land Administration certificate or a related post-secondary education program such as Energy Asset Management (EAM)
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, results oriented work environment with a mindset for continuous improvement and value creation
  • Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and data integrity
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
