Job summary

Lancesoft in Montreal is seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a global Operations Technology team responsible for delivering and supporting business-critical applications used across Operations. This onsite role requires 7–15 years of experience and a rotation for production support.

You will contribute across the full application lifecycle, collaborate with diverse teams, and help improve operational efficiency and reduce risk through robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive commercial Java development experience using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Experience building and supporting REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong OO design and software engineering best practices.
• Experience with SQL databases, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Troubleshooting and solving production issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Experience in Agile delivery teams.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Elasticsearch, Angular, microservices, cloud environments, OpenTelemetry and DevOps is beneficial.

Job description

Location: Montreal (day 1 onboarding onsite / in-office presence required 3x/week)

Level: 7-15 years

Schedule: There is a rotation for production support (typically 2 weeks involving a Friday evening, every 2-3 months)

Role Profile

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a global Operations Technology team responsible for delivering and supporting business-critical applications used across Operations.

This role is suited to a strong, hands-on software engineer who can contribute across the full application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment and production support. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and stakeholders across multiple teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce risk.

Beyond strong technical skills, we are looking for someone who is collaborative with the ability to build effective working relationships and communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and support enterprise applications using Java and related technologies.
• Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, contributing to analysis, solution design, implementation, testing and production support.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
• Drive engineering best practices including code quality, automation, application resiliency, performance and operational support.

Required Experience

• Strong commercial software development experience with Java (Java 17+) and Spring Boot.
• Experience building and supporting REST APIs and backend services.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, software engineering principles and development best practices.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases, automated testing and CI/CD practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve complex production issues.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, Angular (web development), microservices architectures, cloud-hosted environments, observability platforms (OpenTelemetry) and DevOps practices would be beneficial. Previous experience within financial services or other large-scale enterprise environments is advantageous.
