Job summary

Bow Valley College in Calgary is seeking a Custodian/Janitor to keep facilities clean and orderly. You will perform heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish, to maintain a clean and safe environment for students, staff and visitors.

You will dust, damp mop, move furniture for cleaning, sanitize surfaces, and strip, scrub, buff and refinish floors as needed.

Qualifications

• 3 years of heavy duty cleaning experience.
• WHMIS and BSW certifications are an asset.
• Good command of English, verbal and written.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings clean and orderly and perform heavy cleaning duties.
• Clean floors, shampoo rugs, wash walls and glass, and remove rubbish.
• Collect and dispose of trash following procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors; move furniture for cleaning and return it to place.
• Sanitize surfaces and clean windows, walls, and baseboards.
• Seek out areas needing cleaning and complete tasks assigned by supervisor.
