Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education in Calgary, AB is seeking a reliable Custodian/Janitor to maintain clean, safe facilities on campus. You will perform heavy cleaning duties, including floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass washing, and rubbish removal.

Candidates need at least 3 years of commercial cleaning experience, good English communication, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions; WHMIS/BSW certification is an asset. The role requires independence and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Keep buildings clean and orderly; perform heavy cleaning duties including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
• Collect and dispose of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans.
• Dust and damp mop floors following approved procedures.
• Move equipment and furniture for cleaning and place back in correct positions.
• Sanitize all surfaces; wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items to maintain a clean environment.
• Seek out areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete tasks.
• Strip, scrub, buff and refinish floors; shampoo carpets.
