Job summary

Yellowknife Education District No. 1 and the Dettah District Education Authority invite applications for the part-time Janitor position at Mildred Hall School.

The continuing role begins October 1, 2026, with a 4-hour shift from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Minimum requirement is a high school diploma; preferred candidates have janitorial experience, school or commercial setting experience, WHMIS, basic computer skills, and knowledge of floor care for resilient flooring and carpet.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Previous janitorial/cleaning experience preferred.
• Experience in school or commercial settings is an asset.

• Knowledge of floor care for resilient flooring and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, steam cleaning).

4 Hour Shift - 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Minimum requirements for the position include a high school diploma.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

Previous janitorial/cleaning experience, related experience deemed acceptable by the Janitor Supervisor may also be considered

Willingness to work in a multicultural environment around teachers, students, and the public

Experience working in a school/commercial setting

WHMIS training

Basic computer skills

Knowledge of proper floor care of resilient flooring and carpet, including stripping, waxing, buffing and steam cleaning

Must have the physical ability to perform some laborious duties such as snow shovelling and heavy lifting
