Job summary

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is seeking an IT Technical Lead to provide technical direction for strategic projects and lead infrastructure or applications environments. The role emphasizes collaboration with project teams, adherence to quality standards, and enabling secure, scalable IT solutions.

The position is on-site with a 35-hour work week, requiring strong communication and leadership, and a focus on IT security policies and governance within a police services context.

Qualifications

  • Two-year diploma in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of six years in an IT implementation role.
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain police security clearance throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, deliverables, priorities, and schedules with project managers.
  • Design and deliver IT solutions in collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical liaison between business units, vendors and IT operations resources.
  • Lead the development of technical design, configuration, sustainment, and operations documentation.
  • Lead the implementation of new technologies, including testing and troubleshooting.
  • Plan and implement operational initiatives such as versioning and stewardship.
  • Conduct meetings to assess options and recommend changes.
  • Provide technical expertise to IT stakeholder groups.
  • Evaluate risks, improve architectural approaches, and ensure IT security policy compliance.
  • Ensure smooth transition of new technologies to operations with handover and training.
  • Provide SME support to operations during outages.
