Job summary

IMP Aerospace & Defence is seeking a technically skilled professional to support electronic publishing for an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM). You will help develop, implement, and support applications, maintain databases, and publish electronic files in SGML/XML format.

You will work under supervision with mentorship, assist in design, coding, testing, documentation, and user training, and help ensure compliance with technical standards and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in computer studies with a focus on programming.
• Experience in electronic publishing is an asset.
• Experience in system analysis is required.
• Knowledge of Mil Std or S1000D is an asset.
• Good written and oral communication; ability to work independently.
• Commitment to health, safety and environment policies; compliance with regulations.
• Willingness to participate in continuous improvement and lean activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain databases and related programs under mentorship.

Position Overview:

To support electronic publishing activities related to an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM). Participate in the development, implementation, and support of existing applications.

• With direct supervision under a mentorship program, provide maintenance, trouble-shooting and development of databases and related programs.
• Assist in the designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting of applications.
• Responsible for the development of electronic files and the generation of publications in SGML/XML format.
• Maintain electronic files for an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM).
• Assist technical publications staff in the development of electronic publications.
• Install and customize software for new and current users.
• Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

What You Will Bring:

• Education: Post secondary education in computer studies with a concentration in computer programming.
• Previous experience in an electronic publishing environment would be an asset.
• Experience in System Analysis.
• Experience in Technical Standards (Mil Std or S1000D) would be an asset.
• Good written and oral communications skills, able to work independently.
