Job summary

AltaCom is hiring a part-time IT Support Technician to help clients resolve everyday tech issues. This entry-level role emphasizes curiosity and a willingness to learn, with hands-on experience and mentorship from senior technicians.

On-site support is required across Abbotsford, Surrey, Vancouver area and Lethbridge, with flexible scheduling for students or semi-retired professionals. You will respond to requests, troubleshoot Windows PCs and Microsoft 365, set up new accounts, and escalate

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 from a user or admin perspective.
• Comfort troubleshooting PC hardware and software issues.
• Basic networking knowledge: IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi.
• Quick learner willing to pick up new tools and processes.
• Clear, patient communication with non-technical people.
• Reliability and good judgment when handling client systems.

Responsibilities

• Respond to client support requests by phone, email and remote session.
• Troubleshoot Windows PCs, laptops, printers and peripherals.
• Help users with Microsoft 365: Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, passwords and MFA.
• Set up new computers and accounts for new hires, and offboard departing users.
• Diagnose basic network issues such as Wi-Fi, connectivity and printer access.
• Document your work clearly in our ticketing system.
• Escalate more complex issues to senior technicians and learn from solutions.

The role

We're hiring a part-time IT Support Technician to help our team resolve everyday tech issues for clients. This is an entry-level role: we care more about curiosity and a willingness to learn than a long résumé. You'll work alongside experienced technicians and get real, hands-on experience with business IT.

This role is a great fit for college or university students in IT or a related program, or semi-retired IT professionals who want flexible, meaningful part-time work.

Location: This position is based in the Abbotsford, Surrey and Vancouver area of British Columbia, and includes on-site support at local client locations. We're also hiring for the same role in Lethbridge, Alberta.

• Experience with remote support tools or a ticketing system
