Job summary

Yukon University is seeking a responsive and solutions-focused IT Support Technician to provide technical support and technology services to faculty, staff, and students across the University.

This role helps ensure the reliable operation of computing, classroom, and office technology that supports teaching, learning, research, and administrative activities. If you enjoy solving technical problems, supporting people with varying levels of technical knowledge, and working with a broad range of technologies in a collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.

As the IT Support Technician, you will diagnose, troubleshoot, resolve, and elevate hardware, software, network, and audiovisual issues. You will install, configure, maintain, and repair computers, mobile devices, software, peripheral devices, and classroom technology; support software updates and technology deployments; and maintain accurate records of IT assets, service requests, software installations, and technical documentation.

You will also provide technical guidance and user education to faculty, staff, and students, collaborate with IT team members and external vendors, and research practical technology and process improvements that strengthen the quality, reliability, and efficiency of IT services.

Qualifications
  • A diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, industry certifications, and directly related experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of two years of experience providing technical support in a help desk or desktop support environment.
  • Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware, software, peripheral devices, and audiovisual technology.
  • Strong troubleshooting, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
Assets
  • Experience supporting technology in a post-secondary or similarly complex environment.
