What we’re looking for:

Kongsberg Geospatial is seeking an IT Specialist for a 12-month contract to collaborate with our support team. The role involves installing and maintaining computer systems and networks, with the goal of achieving optimal functionality. A successful IT Specialist must have knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate should also have great troubleshooting abilities and work well in a team environment.

This position requires in-office work at the Kanata office 5 days per week.

Duties include:

• Manage help desk system
• Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems
• Create virtual machines and environments
• Assist with system upgrades, patches and backups
• Build new laptops and install approved applications
• Develop and maintain local switches, firewalls and wireless access points
• Document IT processes and maintain inventory of both equipment and licenses
• Manage user accounts and permissions via Active Directory
• Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
• Document installation and configuration procedures
• Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices
• Support the onboarding/offboarding process
• Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers

You have:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to IT or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Understanding of computer networking
• Experience using ticket systems for daily workload
• Knowledge of security protocols and services

It will be great if you have….

• Knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices and NIST 800-171.
