Job summary

Nova Scotia Power is seeking an IT Co-op Student for a temporary, full-time term (Sept–Dec 2026) located in Halifax, NS. You will support IT Service Management processes and help maintain asset data to improve operational effectiveness across the organization.

During the term, you will assist HAM, SAM and Configuration Management, help maintain the IT Asset repository in ServiceNow, generate reports, and communicate issues clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a related program (e.g., Information Management, Information Systems, IT or Business Administration).
  • Strong analytical capabilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 apps (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Exposure to ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support IT HAM, SAM and Configuration Management day-to-day operations.
  • Help maintain IT Asset repository in ServiceNow, run data analyses and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HAM, SAM and Config Mgmt. processes.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

What you’ll do:

As an IT Co-op Student, you'll play an active role in supporting IT Service Management processes and helping maintain accurate asset data and operational effectiveness across the organization.


During your work term, you will have the opportunity to:



  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of IT Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM) and Configuration Management practices.

  • Support the maintenance of the IT Asset repository in ServiceNow, including performing data analysis, generating reports, and handling administrative tasks.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, providing clear, concise descriptions of issues and resolutions.

  • Contribute to identifying and supporting continuous improvement and process optimization efforts related to HAM, SAM and Config. Mgmt. practices.

  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety regulations, ensuring personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.



Who you are:

We're looking for a motivated student who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with technology, data, and business processes. You will be a strong candidate if you:



  • Are enrolled in an Information Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related program.

  • Possess strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.

  • Are proficient with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Have exposure to ServiceNow or other IT Service Management platforms through coursework, co-op placements, or employment (considered an asset).

  • Have a proactive attitude toward learning and improving business processes.

  • Have previous customer service experience and enjoy working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders (considered an asset).

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and concisely.
