Job summary

Nova Scotia Power’s Human Resources team is seeking a Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) in Halifax. You will provide strategic HR support, act as a trusted advisor, and partner with HR colleagues to advance business objectives and foster a productive workplace culture.

The role covers strategic partnership, talent acquisition and development, and employee relations with a focus on DEI and data-driven HR solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of HR experience including leadership exposure and strategic partnering.
  • CPHR is an asset.
  • Experience in talent acquisition, client services, and labor relations.

  • Provide proactive and strategic HR guidance to designated client groups.

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) provides strategic human resources support to designated client groups with Nova Scotia Power. Serving as a trusted advisor, the HRBP partners closely with the Manager, Employee Relations, and collaborates with HR colleagues across the organization to deliver effective HR solutions, advance business objectives, and foster a positive and productive workplace culture.

Strategic Partnership & Advisory
  • Provide proactive and strategic HR guidance to assigned client groups, ensuring HR initiatives are aligned with business goals.
  • Consult with leaders on policy interpretation and support the delivery of HR programs that drive organizational performance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of long‑term HR strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.
Talent Acquisition & Development
  • Support end‑to‑end talent acquisition activities, including recruitment strategies, selection processes, and onboarding, to attract and retain top talent.
  • Facilitate annual HR processes such as performance reviews, talent reviews, and calibration discussions to support capability‑building and succession planning.
Employee & Labour Relations
  • Provide guidance to leaders and employees on employee relations matters to promote fair, consistent, and constructive outcomes.
  • Partner with the labour relations team to address and resolve labour‑related issues within the client group.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • Champion diversity, equity and inclusion by identifying opportunities to remove systemic barriers and strengthening inclusive HR practices.
Data Driven HR Solutions
  • Use HR metrics and analytics to inform decision‑making, drive continuous improvement, and measure the impact of HR initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, policies and organizational standards.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of HR experience, including exposure to team leadership and strategic HR business partnering
  • CPHR is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in talent acquisition, client services, and labor relations.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Technical/Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and HR policies.
  • Proven ability to design and implement HR initiatives that support business strategy.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship‑building, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels.
