Job summary

Lac La Ronge Indian Band-Health Services Department is seeking an IRS Supervisor to oversee the IRS/Cultural Support Program in La Ronge. The role focuses on planning, proposal writing and implementing cultural programs with the Health Care Team.

The ideal candidate will have a health-related certificate, two years supervisory experience, strong communication skills, and ability to travel with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Social Work or health-related field.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to speak Cree is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and oversee all administrative and support activities of the IRS/Cultural Support Program.
• Develop schedules and assign tasks within each community area.
• Track and ensure follow-through on cultural activities.
• Ensure documentation is complete and updated (records, reviews).
• Develop and implement annual work plans per funding proposals.
• Maintain contact with provincial health representatives and partners.

Lac La Ronge Indian Band-Health Services Department is looking for an Indian Residential School (IRS) Supervisor for the community of La Ronge. This position requires living a healthy lifestyle and is familiar with the Woodland Cree Culture and Practices. The ideal candidate is responsible for promoting healthy traditional practices and assist the Health Care Team by providing health programming within their communities.

LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the wellbeing of all members. We provide accessible, high quality health services and programs. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we address both acute needs and determinates of health. The Cultural Program is located in La Ronge, Morins Hill.

About the position

The Indian Residential School (IRS) Supervisor provides overall supervision and direction to the Indian Residential School (IRS) and Cultural Support Workers. The IRS Supervisor works under the supervision of the Cultural Manager. The position focuses on directing and supporting the planning, proposal writing and implementation of cultural programs.

Duties

• Maintain and oversee all administrative and support activities of the IRS/Cultural Support Program and ensure that activities are carried in accordance with the direction of and in accordance with the agreements and contracts, held within the department as a whole;
• Develop schedules and assign tasks as appropriate in each community area;
• Track and ensures follow through on cultural activities as outlined in community schedules;
• Ensures documentation is completed and updated, including program records and individual program reviews;
• Ensures annual work plans are developed and implemented in accordance with parameters set by the approved funding proposals;
• Maintaining contact with provincial health representatives of aboriginal organizations, teachers, physicians and hospitals.

Qualifications

Certificate in Social Work or health related field; Two (2) years supervisory experience; Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered; Two (2) years of relevant experience, particularly in the area of community development and/or health promotion and education; Excellent verbal & written communication skills and Public Relations skills; Ability to speak & understand Cree is an asset; Ability to work in a dynamic environment, as part of a team and with minimal direction; communication skills; Must possess a Valid Class 5 driver's license and have the ability to travel.
