We are hiring an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services, assisting customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery.

Location: This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions to manage the team spanning multiple time zones.

Our IoT mission is to enable companies to create secure connected device fleets. Canonical provides the Ubuntu OS and kernel, with secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems, gateways, and appliances that meet high security and quality standards, aiming to extend this security to consumer electronics and devices.

Our Field Engineers are thought leaders in embedded Linux strategy and delivery, passionate about solving complex problems and helping customers achieve technical and business goals. They also focus on continuous improvement and mentoring colleagues.

This role requires a blend of skills: deep Linux knowledge, proficiency in coding and scripting, experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, embedded software development, and a passion for diverse, fast-paced client engagements.

The responsibilities include:

1. Leading and developing a team of Field engineers across Presales and Professional Services.
2. Solving customer problems by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.
3. Managing a team remotely within a single major time zone.
4. Coaching, mentoring, and providing career development feedback.
5. Monitoring team health indicators and implementing disciplined engineering processes.
6. Representing your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
7. Developing and evangelizing engineering and organizational practices.
8. Planning and managing progress on goals and projects.
9. Participating actively in leadership discussions and collaborations.

Ideal candidates will have:

• An excellent academic record from high school and university.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar).
• Strong Linux experience, preferably with Debian or Ubuntu.
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience managing small teams and engaging with customers.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
• Result-driven mindset with a personal drive to meet commitments.
• Ability to communicate the business benefits of technology.
• A humble learner and quick study.

Desirable traits include RTOS experience, additional programming languages, and prior remote, diverse, distributed work experience.
