We are hiring an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services, helping customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery.

Location: This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three regions: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions to manage the respective team across time zones.

Our IoT mission is to enable companies to create secure, connected device fleets. Canonical provides the Ubuntu OS and kernel, with secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems, gateways, and appliances that meet high security and quality standards. We aim to bring this security level to consumer electronics and device markets.

Our Field Engineers are thought leaders in embedded Linux strategy and delivery, passionate about solving hard problems and helping customers achieve technical and business goals. They advocate for open source and connected devices in edge computing, and develop their colleagues’ skills and understanding.

This role requires a blend of skills:

• Strong Linux knowledge, proficient coding and scripting skills
• Experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, embedded software development
• Enjoys fast-paced, diverse client engagements
• Business-oriented, team-driven, and proud of team and company successes

The role entails:

• Leading and developing a team of Field Engineers (from graduate to senior level)
• Solving customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
• Managing a team remotely within a single major time zone
• Coaching, mentoring, providing career development feedback
• Monitoring team health indicators
• Implementing disciplined engineering processes
• Representing your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Developing and evangelizing engineering and organizational practices
• Planning and tracking progress on goals and projects
• Participating actively in leadership collaboration

What we look for in you:

• Excellent academic record from high school and university
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar)
• Deep Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Experience managing a small team
• Customer engagement experience
• Professional English communication skills
• Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
