Position Overview

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Vice President, Finance & Investor Relations within limits of established policies and procedures, the Investor Relations Manager is accountable for taking the lead in managing Basecamp’s Investor Relations department. The role will involve, but not be limited to, maintaining a database of Basecamp’s existing investors, managing quarterly/annual reporting for all investment assets/funds, performing regular valuation updates on the portfolio, and handling all inbound/outbound investor communications.

Salary : $115,000 - $125,000 (depending on experience)

Locations : Canmore or Calgary AB (please note that Calgary candidates will be expected to travel to our Canmore office at an agreed upon cadence and schedule for the first few months of being in the role)

Key Responsibilities:

Investor Engagement

  • Maintain and oversee an internally focused CRM of all Basecamp investors.
  • Lead the redevelopment and maintenance of an external investor portal that will be the primary touchpoint for all Basecamp investors.
  • Primary contact point for all inbound and outbound investor communications.
  • Initiate the introduction of Basecamp “Investor Days”, working alongside the Corporate Events Coordinator to manage events from inception to execution.
  • Overseeing onboarding of new equity investors, ensuring that all investors are provided with the resources to guide them through Basecamp’s portals, processes, etc.

General Investor Communication & Reporting

  • Oversee quarterly and annual investor reporting.
  • Facilitate the distribution of all investor materials, including but not limited to, tax documentation, special resolutions, investment updates, and other ad hoc communications.
  • Handle investor inquiries in a timely and effective manner, maintaining a professional relationship with all Basecamp investors.
  • Align communications with senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging on project updates and fundraising milestones.
  • Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant handling of investor records and documentation.
  • Work with the Business Development team to review and distribute external investment raising documents.
  • Ensure that all investor relations materials/process are compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be added or modified as required throughout the course of employment.

Asset Valuation

  • Lead the routine revaluation of all Basecamp operating assets, ensuring that investors have timely updates regarding the private Basecamp assets in their portfolio.
  • Work with Finance and C‑Suite to develop a consistent cadence and procedure for revaluing all assets in the Basecamp portfolio, alongside the creation of standardized reporting deliverables for investors.
  • Coordinating with industry appraisers to verify investment valuations with external reviews.
  • Draft and distribute communication materials that outline key changes to portfolio values, explaining drivers and risks.
  • Internal Reporting
  • Provide monthly updates to Finance, Business Development, and C‑Suite on key investor relations themes. Includes sentiment analysis, compilation of common questions/requests, and the flagging of any actionable items that present.
  • Report on valuation trends within the portfolio. Identifies key drivers of valuation changes, alongside risks present and the potential impact.
  • Monitor investor relations landscape, providing recommendations on how to advance Basecamp’s offering to its investors.
  • Lead the dashboard monitoring of notable investor KPI’s and KPO’s.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably majoring in Finance or Marketing.
  • 6-8 years of experience in an Investor Relations role, with time spent in a leadership/manager position.
  • A CFA designation is considered an asset.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Excel, especially pertaining to financial modelling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship management.
  • Ability to work independently when needed.
  • Experience in real estate and development is considered an asset.
  • Dynamic, growth-oriented, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
