Position

We are looking for a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join our dynamic Metals & Mining Team in Toronto! In this role, you will work closely with senior bankers to execute M&A transactions, capital raises, and strategic advisory mandates for leading clients across North America.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of investment banking or equity research experience in the Mining sector and a strong passion for the industry.

Responsibilities

Specifically, you will:

• Participate in the execution of equity and debt financings, M&A, and restructuring and recapitalization transactions;
• Conduct financial modelling, various financial and strategic analyses, discounted cash flow analysis, comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis and evaluate other industry metrics as required;
• Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis and industry research;
• Build and maintain detailed financial models and industry databases;
• Assist in preparing extensive written documents including transaction documentation/proposals, pitches and company information documents for business development and marketing purposes;
• Develop client relationships through deal execution and pitching;
• Operate as a key member of various project/deal teams driving work product and transaction processes; and
• Work closely with Analysts, other Associates and VPs on the investment banking team, as well as senior bankers and experts from various groups in Canada and the U.S.

Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you must:

• Have an undergraduate degree in business, finance or another related field;
• Possess 2-3 years of investment banking experience in Metals & Mining; however, relevant transaction advisory and/or corporate development experience will also be considered;
• Demonstrate a keen interest in finance and the capital markets;
• Have a proven academic track record of strong performance in analytical and financial courses;
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Possess quantitative and analytical skills with an interest in financial analysis and modeling;
• Have a highly motivated, committed and responsible attitude, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and requests in a demanding work environment;
• Possess the ability to work independently while functioning as part of a team;
• Have the ability to learn quickly, with very strong attention to detail and a high regard for accuracy; and
• Possess exceptional proficiency with MS Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), Refinitiv Eikon, Pitchbook, S&P Capital IQ, and Bloomberg.

Completion or pursuit of additional professional accreditations or designations such as CFA or CA/CPA are considered an asset. The position offers a competitive compensation package and benefits.
