Job summary

North American Freight Group in Mississauga, ON, is seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator to maintain inventory accuracy in our warehouse. You will perform cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and validate system data against the Warehouse Management System.

This role works with the Client Operations & Inventory Manager and operations teams to drive continuous improvement, accuracy, and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient with WMS, RF scanning, and inventory reporting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory counts to maintain accuracy.
  • Validate inventory integrity by reconciling physical inventory against WMS records.
  • Investigate discrepancies and root causes to reduce recurring errors.
  • Produce inventory reports and participate in forecasting and replenishment reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and controls.

Shift Time:8:00am to 4:30pm (In-Office)

Terms:Permanent Full-Time

Salary:Competitive, based on experience

Reports To: Client Operations & Inventory Manager

Job Purpose:

The Inventory Control Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of inventory throughout the warehouse. This role performs cycle counts, investigates inventory discrepancies, validates system data against physical inventory, and supports root cause analysis to improve inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Working closely with the Client Operations & Inventory Manager. Warehouse Operations, and Client Solutions coordinators, this role combines hands-on warehouse activities with analytical problem-solving to ensure inventory records are accurate, customer expectations are met, and continuous improvement opportunities are identified.

Success in this role means inventory records are accurate, reliable, and trusted by customers and internal teams.

A successful Inventory Control Coordinator is detail-oriented, analytical, and naturally curious. They investigate discrepancies thoroughly, identify likely root causes, communicate findings clearly, and support corrective actions that reduce recurring errors. They become a trusted resource, maintain strong system knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement across warehouse operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

People & Collaboration

  • Support company Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) by proactively contributing to initiatives that drive strategic goals, operational excellence, and organizational success.
  • Live the company core values and support a respectful, organized, safety-conscious, and service-focused work environment.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Warehouse Operations, Client Solutions teams, and management to resolve issues and improve processes
  • Communicate inventory issues, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally
  • Support operational teams during peak business periods as required
  • Promote a culture of inventory accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement

Process & Operations

  • Perform scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory counts to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Validate inventory integrity by reconciling physical inventory against Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) records
  • Verify inventory movements are completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures
  • Assist with customer inventory audits and physical inventory events
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, damages, transaction errors, and misplaced inventory
  • Research inventory issues and prepare findings for review by the Inventory Manager
  • Assist in identifying root causes of inventory discrepancies and support corrective and preventative actions (CAPA)
  • Verify inventory locations, inventory status, and product holds to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Maintain accurate material dimensions, weights, product attributes, and inventory master data
  • Operate RF scanners and warehouse technology to accurately complete inventory transactions
  • Support implementation of new inventory control procedures and process improvements
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as required

Business & Performance

  • Produce accurate inventory reports, inventory consumption reports, and variance reports
  • Support inventory forecasting, replenishment planning, and inventory availability reviews through accurate reporting
  • Monitor inventory accuracy trends and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Ensure inventory records support customer expectations and operational performance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and reporting quality

Professional & Educational Background:

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, logistics, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF scanning technology, and inventory reporting tolls is an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO standards would be considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required warehouse equipment certifications, including forklift, skyjack/scissor lift, and working at heights certifications (NAFG will provide required training and certification opportunities)

  • Accuracy: Strong attention to detail with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify potential to identify root causes, and reconcile physical inventory against system records
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate inventory issues, findings, and recommendations to the Inventory Manager and internal teams
  • Processes:Ability to follow established processes while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage cycle count schedules, reporting requirements, and competing priorities
  • Computer: Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and reporting tools

Effort & Working Conditions:

  • Demonstrates commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement in a warehouse environment
  • Works primarily within a warehouse environment, including regular movement throughout the facility to complete inventory counts and audits with some time in an office environment
  • May require operation of material handling equipment including forklifts, Skyjack/scissor lifts, and other approved equipment
  • May require working at heights while completing physical inventory activities
  • May require standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting within safety guidelines
  • May support increased operational demands during peak periods
