Position: Inventory Control and Quality Supervisor - Night Shift
Job Overview
Supervision of Inventory Control and Quality Assurance. Ensure completion of daily tasks related to Inventory Control, keeping cycle counting on track throughout the fiscal year. Responsible for scheduling orders in the WMS, and manual billing of Flow orders. Provide support for stores as well as other departments in the Support Centre. Support company initiatives and programs. Provide coaching for Team Members as needed. Builds positive relationships with team members.
Accountabilities
Leadership and People Management

- Provide direct daily supervision to his/her team to ensure safe, clean and efficient operation of the warehouse
- Oversee inventory control/quality assurance and assignments to ensure efficient operation
- Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching, and disciplining team members
Safety, Equipment, Sanitation, Security
Maintain a Clean, Neat And Orderly Warehouse
- Ensuring all team members adhere to food safety standards
- Ensuring that all team members adhere to all health and workplace safety standards
- Ensuring that all team members adhere to proper sanitization and cleaning procedures
- Assist in maintaining warehouse security
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of material handling equipment
Implementing Warehouse Initiatives
- Supports IC Manager in implementing of all Warehouse initiatives that support the Inventory Control & Quality Assurance Strategy
WMS
- Supervise and maintain all warehouse management systems in the facility(s).
- Analyze system and warehouse needs to identify and recommend improvements/enhancements.
- Interact with the users to define business requirements and scope of needs
- Trouble shoot issues or delegate to appropriate team member.
Inventory Control
- Manage the cycle counting process to maintain counting targets in all areas.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Direct the allocation of inventory and supplies, optimize the processes and identify / eliminate wastes
- Design strategies to minimize the cost or time required to move / slot goods.
- Responsible for active inventory count, cycle count and process audits.
- Provide the value of lost or missing inventory and report to appropriate management.
- Coordinate activities with accounting, inventory and operations to ensure proper procedures are in place to accurately count and reconcile inventory. Oversee and evaluate product stock rotations procedures to reduce product nearing expiration dates
- Establish and maintain partnership with warehouse operations to provide support to the operations to ensure accuracy in standard inventory handling procedures.
- Develop and execute daily, weekly and monthly action plans that improve quality, inventory accuracy and service
- Develop and implement Continuous Improvement processes that improve the inventory control process
- Communicate with Purchasing and other departments as needed to research inventory discrepancies
Quality
- Effectively create, implement, maintain and improve the Standard Operating Procedures for DC operations and Transportation
- Measure, track and manage process deviations
- Develop coaching and follow-up program, drive operational excellence and leading industry benchmark
- Work effectively with cross functional teams, customers to get positive results and bring closure to quality issues.
- Provide status of ongoing issues, projects and communicate progress through written reports and regular quality meetings assigned or scheduled.
- Takes immediate corrective action within the scope of the assigned authority whenever productivity, quality and safety challenges arise.
Customer Service
- Ensures positive customer service relations with a variety of internal customers such as Department Managers, Store Managers and Head Office Departments, external vendors and government regulators
Reporting and Administration
Responsible For Written Reports And Documentation Including
- IC Coordinator/administrator performance appraisals and performance documentation
- Operations benchmarking
- Daily, weekly, monthly inventory reports, process deviation reports and coaching reports
- Other operational reports as assigned
Implementing Polices and Standard Operating Procedures
Responsible to implement and train team members on all policies and procedures including:
- Standard Operating Procedures
- WHMIS
- Loss Prevention
- Human Resource Policies
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Post secondary education and a minimum of 5 years of WMS experience
- 5-7 years of experience as a Supervisor
- Proven leadership skills and/or leadership training
- Good understanding of warehouse, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting
- Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies
- Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHIMIS, Food Safety and Loss Prevention practices
- Knowledge of temperature control
- Ability to coach and develop others
- Material handling equipment certification
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a standard warehouse environment with participation in meetings at the office
- Travel to various Warehouse locations when required
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including - evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs require
