Job summary

Bartle & Gibson Co. is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control professional to ensure accurate inventory through regular cycle counts and effective error correction. You will identify discrepancies, perform manual stock adjustments, and contribute to efficiency across the organization.

Responsibilities include analyzing counts, updating ERP/WMS data, and training staff on best practices. The role supports operations in Western Canada and may require lifting and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years warehouse experience (asset)
• Experience using Microsoft Office (asset)
• Knowledge of plumbing/electrical/heating industry or related products would be asset

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies
• Analyze counting results and collaborate with the inventory team to resolve issues
• Develop and implement cycle counting procedures to improve inventory accuracy
• Maintain accurate records of cycle count findings and update inventory management systems
• Perform manual stock adjustments in the inventory management system based on cycle counts and self-identified audits
• Assist in training staff on best practices for inventory management and cycle counting
• Identify trends in inventory discrepancies and recommend process improvements
• Collaborate with purchasing and sales teams to meet customer needs
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards in the warehouse
• Perform root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
• Assess, document and process/claim damaged and defective products
• Identify, investigate, correct shipping errors to and from branch transfer
• Role may include tasks requiring repetitive motion
• Other duties as required

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to ensure the accuracy of our inventory through regular cycle counts and effective error correction. The Inventory Control role is critical for doing cycle counts, identifying discrepancies, and performing manual stock adjustments to enhance operational efficiency throughout the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately track and manage inventory levels, ensuring records are correct
• Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
• Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain an orderly inventory system
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with inventory management software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, WMS)
• Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to troubleshoot and resolve inventory issues efficiently
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills to collaborate with team members and other departments
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills for calculations related to stock levels, counts, and adjustments
• Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with other departments, such as procurement and sales
• Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing inventory needs and processes
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time
