Job summary

Family Service Saskatoon Inc. is seeking an Intimate Partner Violence Outreach Worker in Saskatoon to provide crisis counselling, advocacy, and outreach to survivors of IPV.

You will assess needs, connect clients with community resources, facilitate groups, document activities, and participate in supervision. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years' relevant experience, with flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; 3-5 years' experience in IPV or related field preferred.
  • Ability to maintain documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and trauma-informed approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Provides crisis counselling, crisis management, advocacy, and outreach services to individuals affected by intimate partner violence
  • Assesses client needs and connects them with community resources. Facilitates groups, workshops, and public education initiatives
  • Maintains documentation and reporting requirements, collaborates with community partners, supports agency outreach and committees
  • Participates in clinical supervision
  • Provides court caseworker coverage as needed
  • Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

  • Completed degree in BSW or BISW
  • 3-5 yrs of direct experience
  • Eligible for registration with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional association
  • Knowledge of counselling theories and practices, including crisis intervention, short-term counselling, human development, behavioural change, communication, conflict resolution, interviewing, assessment, and evaluation techniques
  • Comprehensive understanding of intimate partner violence, abuse dynamics, coercive control, risk factors, and experience supporting survivors using trauma- and violence-informed approaches.
  • Skilled in group facilitation and knowledgeable about community resources related to IPV. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and effectiveness in working with Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, and newcomer populations.
  • Familiar with the justice system, domestic violence court processes, and the impacts of addictions, mental health concerns, and FASD
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, ethical, organizational, and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage caseloads, work independently, adapt to changing priorities
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
