Job summary

BBA Consultants in Montreal is seeking a Trainee Electrical Engineer to contribute across the full project lifecycle—from proposal and study analysis of industrial power systems to site surveys, monitoring and equipment commissioning.

You’ll join a team of electrical engineers, design power systems for low- to high-voltage grids, draft technical specifications and study reports, and participate in protection studies, project management tasks and on-site verification.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering.
• Basic knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Ability to read plans and diagrams.
• Available to stay on site.
• Asset: student registered with IGEE.

Responsibilities

• Join a team of electrical engineers and experts who’ll ensure you receive quality supervision
• Design power systems for a variety of major detailed engineering projects for low- to high-voltage grids, produce engineering deliverables such as electrical plans and diagrams, and participate in protective relay programming
• Draft technical specifications, calculation notes, estimates and study reports
• Coordinate electrical engineering with other disciplines to ensure quality design
• Participate in various system studies such as power flow, harmonics and transients
• Participate in protection and arc flash studies
• Help with various project management tasks, including schedule and cost monitoring
• Perform site surveys and site monitoring during the construction phase
• Participate in pre-operational verifications and commissioning of electrical equipment
• Participate in modernizing existing power grid protection systems to protect individuals and equipment in case of failure
• Propose solutions to mitigate various engineering issues and provide feedback on those proposed by your colleagues
