Job summary

PartnerRe in Toronto is seeking an Internal Auditor to join our international audit team. You will evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of processes, controls, policies, and procedures, and provide recommendations to strengthen operations.

We offer a base salary in the CAD 77,000–120,000 range, plus an annual incentive program and a benefits portfolio. Our hybrid work model requires in-office presence three days a week, with remote work flexibility and inclusion across borders.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7 years of work experience in auditing.
  • Familiarity with Solvency II regulations in (re)insurance is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of audit principles and internal controls.
  • Strong written and oral communication, presentation skills.
  • Certifications such as CIA, CISA, ACA, ACCA or CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in risk-based audits of business processes and document testing/results.
  • Assess whether processes and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating to meet objectives.
  • Plan and execute testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting.
  • Provide assurance over key areas of change prior to implementation.
  • Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure corrective action is taken.

The expected base salary range for this position, when hired into our Toronto location, is CAD $77, 000 – $120, 000 per year. For positions based in other jurisdictions, compensation will be determined in alignment with local regulations, market benchmarks, and internal compensation frameworks. The above range reflects the typical base salary range for candidates hired into this position. The actual salary will vary depending on a number of factors, including job location, experience, qualifications, education/training, skills, market conditions, and alignment with the role’s requirements.

In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in our annual incentive program, payment under which is at the discretion of PartnerRe and subject to individual and company performance. Eligible employees also have the opportunity to participate in an array of benefits, including medical, dental and vision coverage, a health spending account, a defined contribution pension plan, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, etc.

Job Description

As an Internal Auditor, you will be a key member of our international audit team, responsible for evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of processes, controls, policies, and procedures. You will conduct impactful audits, identify risks, and provide insightful recommendations to enhance our Company’s operations. You will be a trusted partner to management for strengthening internal controls and improving business processes.

  • Participate in risk‑based audits of business processes, document audit testing and results in accordance with professional standards for internal auditing
  • Assess whether processes and internal controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively to support the achievement of the Company’s strategic and operational objectives
  • Plan and execute testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting
  • Provide assurance over key areas of change prior to implementation
  • Follow up of audit recommendations to ensure appropriate corrective action has been taken to resolve identified control deficiencies

About You

  • Solid understanding of audit principles, risk assessment and internal control frameworks
  • Familiarity with Solvency II regulations and their application within the (re)insurance sector is a plus.
  • Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Able to effectively work as part of an international team
  • Able to adapt to change and multi‑task
  • Curious mindset with strong analytical skills and critical thinking abilities
  • Strong written/oral communication, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and relationship building skills

  • 3 to 7 years work experience is required
  • Prior experience with analytics / visualization software would be an asset
  • University degree in Accounting, Actuarial, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant audit certifications preferred (CIA, CISA, ACA, ACCA or CPA)
