Job summary

WSP in Vancouver seeks a Transportation Planning Co-op Student to support mobility projects across Western Canada. Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related program.
  • Strong interest in transportation planning, mobility, and community development.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun, EMME or similar software.

Responsibilities

  • Support transportation planning and mobility projects for municipal, provincial, and development clients.
  • Analyze transportation data and travel patterns to inform mobility solutions and planning recommendations.
  • Contribute to active transportation, transit planning, and multimodal mobility studies.
  • Assist with preparation of technical memoranda, reports, maps, graphics, and presentations.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection activities.
  • Collaborate with planners, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams on innovative solutions.
  • Support stakeholder and community-focused planning to improve accessibility and sustainability.

Join our Mobility Advisory and Planning team in Vancouver and help shape the future of mobility across Western Canada. As a Transportation Planning Co-op Student, you'll work alongside transportation planners, engineers, and advisors on projects that support safer, more connected, and more sustainable communities. From active transportation and transit planning to mobility studies and transportation master plans, you'll gain hands‑on experience contributing to projects that improve how people move.

Your Impact

  • Support transportation planning and mobility projects for municipal, provincial, and development clients.
  • Analyze transportation data and travel patterns to help inform mobility solutions and planning recommendations.
  • Contribute to active transportation, transit planning, transportation master planning, and multimodal mobility studies.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, reports, maps, graphics, and presentations.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, transportation inventories, and data collection activities.
  • Collaborate with planners, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams to develop innovative transportation solutions.
  • Support stakeholder and community-focused planning initiatives that improve accessibility, connectivity, and sustainability.
  • Build practical transportation planning experience while learning from experienced industry professionals.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related Engineering program.
  • Strong interest in transportation planning, mobility, active transportation, transit systems, and community development.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, transportation planning and analysis tools such as ArcGIS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun, EMME, or similar software.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and interpreting technical data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary team environments.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $24.80 – $32.65 per hour
MB & ON: $23.20 – $30.55 per hour
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $22.20 – $30.55 per hour
