Job summary

WSP in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a Transportation Planning Engineer to step into a Project Manager role on-site. You will contribute to a broad range of transportation planning and engineering projects across Canada, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver data-driven, multimodal solutions and client-facing deliverables.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in transportation engineering, a P.Eng license, and proficiency with planning software.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Transportation Engineering.
  • P.Eng license is required or active licensure.
  • 8+ years of transportation engineering and planning experience.
  • Experience with transportation impact assessments and multi-modal design.
  • Proficiency with Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO or Aimsun.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to lead projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on data collection, analysis, reporting, and technical tasks for projects.
  • Apply best practices in active transportation and multi-modal planning.
  • Develop project management and coordination experience for leadership roles.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects.
  • Prepare technical memos and reports to communicate results and recommendations.
  • Engage clients and communities through meetings and public consultations.

We are seeking aTransportation Planning Engineerready to assume aProject Managerrole and meaningfully contribute to a team working on a broad variety of transportation planning and engineering projects across Canada.

This position ison-site in Ottawaand isnot remote. We welcome applications from candidates acrossCanada and the United Statesand offerrelocation assistance.

  • Collaborate on exciting projects, from data collection and analysis to reporting and supporting your team on in-field and in-office technical tasks.
  • Applybest practices and identify innovative solutions in active transportation master planning and design assignments, engineering analyses, and studies for multi-modal transportation, transit, and traffic projects.
  • Developprogressive experience in project management and coordination, preparing you for leadership opportunities.
  • Workwith a multi-disciplinary team including transportation/traffic engineers, planners, designers, and landscape architects.
  • Prepare and overseetechnical memos and reports to communicate results and recommendations that influence project decisions.
  • Engagewith clients and communities through meetings and public consultations.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • A passion for transportation and designing multi-modal solutions that improve safety and connectivity.
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Transportation Engineering and aP.Eng license.
  • 8+ years of experience in transportation engineering and planning, including transportation impact assessments, active transportation infrastructure design, and project management.
  • Proficiency in transportation software and methods (e.g.,Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO, Aimsun).
  • Experience in traffic operations and site analysis, with the ability to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Business development experience, including the ability to prepare compelling proposals and estimate, track, and manage project budgets.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting complex technical concepts
  • A collaborative mindset and leadership skills to manage projects and client relationships effectively.

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK:$104,100 – $138,000
MB & ON:$95,000 – $130,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC:$94,100 – $124,900
