Job summary

TWD is an engineering, procurement and construction management consulting firm supporting energy and infrastructure projects. We seek an Intermediate Instrumentation Designer for our Burlington, ON team to design, review and coordinate instrumentation deliverables from conception through execution.

You will work with process, electrical, mechanical and civil teams, producing drawings, schedules and datasheets while ensuring quality and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting P&IDs, drawings, specs and technical docs.
• Experience delivering instrumentation and control deliverables for industrial projects.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instrumentation and control drawings, layouts, schematics and wiring documentation.
• Develop and update instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, datasheets, and related design docs.
• Review P&IDs, equipment information, specs and client requirements.
• Coordinate instrumentation design with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, civil and structural teams.
• Collaborate with engineers and other designers to resolve design issues.
• Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.
• Complete work within schedule, budget and quality requirements.
• Review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide field, construction, vendor and commissioning support when required.

Intermediate Instrumentation Designer

TWD is an engineering, procurement and construction management consulting company serving the energy and infrastructure sectors. We support projects in refining, pipelines, terminals, renewables, power, food and beverage, and chemical processing.

We are looking for an Intermediate Instrumentation Designer to join our Burlington, ON team. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on design work, collaborating with several engineering disciplines and supporting projects from design through execution.

What You'll Do

• Prepare instrumentation and control drawings, layouts, schematics and wiring documentation.
• Develop and update instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, datasheets and related design documents.
• Review P&IDs, equipment information, specifications and client requirements.
• Coordinate instrumentation design work with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, civil and structural teams.
• Work with engineers and other designers to identify and resolve design issues.
• Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.
• Complete assigned work within project schedule, budget and quality requirements.
• Review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide field, construction, vendor and commissioning support when required.

What You Bring

• A diploma, certificate or degree in Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
• Four to nine years of relevant instrumentation design experience.
• Experience preparing instrumentation and control deliverables for industrial or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems and electrical interfaces.
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards.
• Experience using relevant instrumentation design and engineering software.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a project team.
