Job Description

WSP is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist to become a key member of our highly regarded Environmental Management team in British Columbia. This is your chance to join one of the largest and most experienced hydrogeology teams in BC and the Yukon, celebrated for our extensive expertise and a solid reputation within the industry.

In this role, you will work closely with a passionate and close-knit team that is committed to supporting each other’s professional growth and development. Under the guidance of a Senior Hydrogeologist, you’ll engage in a diverse range of projects including Physical groundwater hydrogeology, Groundwater supply development and protection, Contaminant hydrogeology, Aquifer mapping and characterization, Dewatering and infiltration.

The Intermediate Hydrogeologist will work independently to design and plan hydrogeological investigations, analyze, and interpret data, and prepare reports for senior review.

Work at an Intermediate level is used to develop competency in the discipline under the supervision of senior staff through a variety of routine to medium complexity tasks, fostering knowledge, skills, and experience.

In conjunction with their technical discipline, the incumbent will build the foundations of consulting under supervision, through tasks designed to develop knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Can Expect To Do Here…
TECHNICAL
  • Lead field programs: drilling, well installation, soil and rock sampling, hydraulic testing.
  • Develop programs with oversight from project management or senior hydrogeologists.
  • Monitor work progress and adapt plans accordingly.
  • Develop and implement standard procedures in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and collaborate on projects.
  • Ensure proper data collection and documentation.
  • Analyze data, write reports, and contribute to proposals.
  • Guide junior staff in field programs.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Develop and monitor HSSE requirements and plans.
  • Coordinate small to medium projects, track performance, and maintain schedules.
  • Manage data and documentation, including contracts and reports.
SUPERVISION
  • Supervise and train junior staff and subcontractors, promote health and safety culture.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
  • Understand business drivers and contribute to proposals, work plans, and budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and build a growth mindset.
Other
  • Build internal networks, participate in professional communities, and represent WSP at industry events.
  • Publish or present technical papers every two years.
CLIENT
  • Provide technical input at client meetings, prepare deliverables, and foster client relationships.
What You'll Bring To WSP…
  • Bachelor's in Geoscience or Engineering with focus on Hydrogeology, 4-6 years relevant experience.
  • Professional registration in the province/territory of work or eligibility to obtain it within a year.
  • Desired: Postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology.
  • Intermediate technical proficiency in hydrogeology, committed to ongoing development.
  • Experience in environmental consulting, enthusiasm, and team contribution.
Salary Range (in British Columbia): $71,500 to $98,300

The final salary may vary based on education, experience, skills, and organizational needs. The range is subject to change for business reasons.
