Job Description

WSP is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Hydrogeologist to become a key member of our highly regarded Environmental Management team in British Columbia. This is your chance to join one of the largest and most experienced hydrogeology teams in BC and the Yukon, celebrated for our extensive expertise and a solid reputation within the industry.

In this role, you will work closely with a passionate and close-knit team that is committed to supporting each other’s professional growth and development. Under the guidance of a Senior Hydrogeologist, you’ll engage in a diverse range of projects including physical groundwater hydrogeology, groundwater supply development and protection, contaminant hydrogeology, aquifer mapping and characterization, and dewatering and infiltration.

The Intermediate Hydrogeologist will work independently to design and plan hydrogeological investigations, analyze data, interpret results, and prepare reports for senior review. Work at an intermediate level involves developing competency in the discipline under supervision, through routine to medium complexity tasks, to build knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Can Expect To Do Here…

Technical
  • Plan and lead field programs including drilling, well installation, soil and core sampling, hydraulic testing, and groundwater sampling.
  • Develop programs under oversight of project management and senior hydrogeologists.
  • Monitor work progress and adapt plans to meet objectives.
  • Develop and implement standard procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical advice and collaborate on projects.
  • Ensure proper data collection and documentation.
  • Conduct analysis, write reports, and contribute to proposals.
  • Guide junior staff in field program implementation.
Project Management
  • Develop HSSE requirements and plans.
  • Coordinate small to medium projects, monitor performance, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Manage project schedules and documentation.
  • Produce progress reports for stakeholders.
Supervision
  • Supervise and train junior staff and subcontractors, ensuring safety and standards compliance.
  • Promote WSP’s health and safety culture.
Business Development
  • Understand business drivers and contribute to proposals and budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and cost control.
  • Build internal networks and participate in industry events.
Other
  • Participate in professional associations and industry conferences.
  • Publish technical papers or present at conferences biannually.
Client
  • Provide technical input at client meetings.
  • Prepare deliverables aligned with client objectives.
  • Develop client relationships and serve as project contact.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Geoscience or Engineering with Hydrogeology focus; 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional registration in the province/territory, or eligibility within one year.
  • Optional: Postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology.
  • Technical proficiency in hydrogeology, with a commitment to ongoing development.
  • Experience in environmental consulting, enthusiasm, and team contribution.

Salary Range in BC: $71,500 to $98,300. Final salary varies based on qualifications and experience.
