Job summary

Egis Canada is seeking an experienced Intermediate Hydrogeochemist/Geochemist to join our growing mining/geochemistry team. You will develop and execute geochemical testing programs and build water quality models for mining projects in Canada and abroad.

The ideal candidate holds a master's or Ph.D. in geochemistry or hydrogeology, 5–10 years of experience, and proficiency with PHREEQC or Geochemist's Workbench. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • (5–10) years of geochemical testing and modeling experience for mining operations.
  • Proficient with geochemical modeling software (PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute geochemical testing programs for mining projects.
  • Create and calibrate geochemical and water quality models.
  • Analyze geochemical data to support project planning.
  • Prepare technical reports and client-presentations.

About the Role

About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Intermediate Hydrogeochemist/Geochemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or Ph.D. and 5 to 10 years of experience in developing and executing mine-related geochemical testing programs and geochemical and water quality models for mining operations in Canada or internationally. This role involves conducting geochemical assessments, developing models, and providing technical support for mining projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute geochemical testing programs for mining projects.
  • Create and calibrate geochemical and water quality models using industry-standard software.
  • Analyze and interpret geochemical data to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geochemical data into mining project designs.
  • Monitor and evaluate water quality and geochemical conditions, providing recommendations for management.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Participate in fieldwork, including site visits, data collection, and sampling.

What do we need from you

  • Master's degree in Geochemistry, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in geochemical testing and modeling for mining operations.
  • Proficiency in geochemical modeling software (e.g., PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Geologist (P. Geo.) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with GIS software and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with mining operations and practices.
