Egis Canada is seeking an Environmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join our growing environmental team in Ontario. You will manage geo-environmental projects, coordinate fieldwork, and liaise with clients to deliver on-time, on-budget results.

The ideal candidate holds a university degree in science or engineering, professional licensure (P.Eng./P.Geo.), and 5+ years in ESAs, hydrogeology, or remediation. Travel across Ontario is expected.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Science or Engineering.
  • P.Eng. or P.Geo. licensure with PEO/PGO in good standing.
  • 5+ years in ESAs, hydrogeology or remediation.
  • MS Office and GINT reporting skills.
  • Strong initiative and team support mindset.
  • Excellent English communications; French a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with problem solving and independent research.
  • Team and field/office versatility.
  • Experience with ESAs, site remediation, hydrogeology fieldwork.
  • Familiarity with Ontario regs (O. Reg. 153/04, 406/19, 63/16, 387/04, 347, 903).
  • Infra project experience and Canada environmental regs.
  • Willingness to travel across Ontario; occasional outside province.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental support and coordination for Ontario infrastructure projects, focusing on excess soils/hydrogeology.
  • Manage geo-environmental projects: Excess Soils, Hydrogeology, Phase I/II ESAs, Remediations, Waste Monitoring, Designated Surveys.
  • Write proposals and manage project budgets.
  • Oversee fieldwork, analysis and reporting direction.
  • Liaise with high-profile clients to meet needs on time and on budget.
  • Temporary assignment on projects like Pearson Airport LIFT and Hamilton LRT.
  • Other duties as required.

About the Role

We are looking for anEnvironmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join the growing Environmental team. In this role, you will:

  • Environmental support and coordination pertaining to major infrastructure projects across Ontario, primarily focused on excess soils management and/or hydrogeology;
  • Manage/coordinate geo-environmental projects, including but not limited to:
    • Excess Soils Projects (APU, SAP, SCR, ESDAR);
    • Hydrogeological Assessments;
    • Phase I and II ESAs;
    • Remediations;
    • Waste Disposal Site Monitoring; and
    • Designated Substance Surveys.
  • Write winning proposals, set and adhere to project budgets;
  • Oversee and provide direction on technical fieldwork, analysis, and reporting;
  • Liaise with high-profile clients to ensure project needs are met on-time and on-budget;
  • Temporary assignment on other high-profile projects, including Pearson Airport LIFT, Hamilton LRT, etc.;
  • Other duties as may be required from time to time.
What do we need from you
  • Completion of a university degree in Science or Engineering;
  • Licensure as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in good standing with PEO or PGO;
  • Minimum of 5years’ demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating ESAs, hydrogeology, and/or remediation work;
  • Design skills with good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Access, Outlook), Gint and other standard software for reporting, drawing, data analysis and communications;
  • Excellent initiative, a sense of pride in your work, and willingness to support your team;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English (French would be considered an asset);
  • Good attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to think creatively and research independently;
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in the field and in an office setting;
  • Both field and reporting experience in the areas of environmental site assessments, site remediation and hydrogeological studies, including soil and groundwater sampling and field hydraulic conductivity testing;
  • Knowledge with O. Reg. 153/04 (Brownfields and amendments) requirements, O.Reg406/19 (Excess Soil Management), O. Reg. 63/16 (Ontario Water Resource Act), O. Reg. 387/04 (Water Taking and Transfer Regulation) O. Reg 347 Waste Regulation, O. Reg 903 (and amendments) and other environmental regulations in Ontario;
  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects and familiarity with environmental regulations across Canada is an asset;
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario and occasionally out-of-province for work assignments; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
