Job summary

Haywood Securities Inc. in Vancouver is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting to the Controller, you will manage monthly general ledger reconciliations, amortization schedules, and financial statement prep for audits and regulatory purposes.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of accounting experience, CPA designation or active enrollment, and familiarity with brokerage industry processes; Broadridge or Multiview experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related accounting experience.
• Preference for CPA designation or actively enrolled in the CPA program.
• Experience in the brokerage industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly general ledger account reconciliations and amortization schedules.
• Processing revenue and expense allocations and journal entries.
• Assisting with the processing of bank transfers.
• Analyzing and reconciling commission-related data.
• Assisting with financial statement preparation for regulatory purposes and annual external audits.
• Preparing various fiscal year-end audit working papers.

About the position

Haywood is currently seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join its Vancouver office. Reporting to the Controller, the ideal candidate for this role will have prior work experience in financial accounting, preferably in the investment industry, strong attention to detail and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges as they arise. Candidates must be able to demonstrate professionalism in their approach to the management of internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly general ledger account reconciliations and amortization schedules
• Processing revenue and expense allocations and journal entries
• Assisting with the processing of bank transfers
• Analyzing and reconciling commission-related data
• Assisting with financial statement preparation for both regulatory purposes and annual external audits
• Preparing various fiscal year-end audit working papers
• Various other ad hoc tasks and projects as required

Requirements:

Education and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of related accounting experience
• Preference for candidates with CPA designation or actively enrolled in the program
• Experience in the brokerage industry is an asset
