Job description

Reporting to the Head of Energy Markets & Software Solutions, you will be part of a team developing energy solutions for large business and institutional customers including electric vehicle charging, battery storage, solar PV, and power generation. Your work will help unlock the full potential of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, driving the transition to a clean energy economy.

The ideal candidate will combine expertise in energy systems, renewable energy, EV technology, and control systems to ensure seamless project execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Design and Integration:

  1. Design and develop system architectures for electrification projects, including EV chargers, power distribution systems, and energy management systems.
  2. Integrate hardware and software components to optimize system functionality.
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure systems meet project goals.
  4. Support site assessments and feasibility evaluations to determine project requirements.
  5. Engage in software and hardware product development, designing and evaluating innovative solutions to deliver fit-for-purpose systems in line with product vision and business needs.
  6. Identify risks and suggest strategies to proactively overcome challenges.

Technical Analysis and Implementation:

  1. Ensure the effective integration and interoperability of electrification systems.
  2. Implement communication protocols (e.g., OCPP, MODBUS, SCADA) for seamless system performance.
  3. Support power flow optimization, load balancing, and grid synchronization.
  4. Perform technical review of project design, analysis, and reporting.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

  1. Oversee commissioning and performance validation against specifications to ensure smooth project delivery.
  2. Perform remote and in-person troubleshooting of technical issues related to hardware, software, and interoperability.
  3. Monitor system performance and support relevant stakeholders in improving system uptime and availability.

Documentation and Compliance:

  1. Prepare project documentation, including system diagrams, test plans, end-to-end requirements, technical specifications, and reports.
  2. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements for EV charging and microgrid systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. University Degree in Engineering or related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in systems integration, EV infrastructure, DERs, or microgrid projects.
  3. Strong understanding of energy storage systems, renewable energy technologies, and power systems.
  4. Self-initiated and intellectually curious, with a powerful interest in electrification and innovation.
  5. Experience with development and operation of one or more of the following: EV charging, behind-the-meter assets, distributed energy resources, or energy management systems.
  6. Experience with SCADA or PLC/RTU platforms, and OCPP an asset.
  7. Experience working with EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) and energy management software.
