Job summary

Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to perform skilled journeyperson level maintenance, calibration, and fault finding on municipal systems. You will inspect equipment, troubleshoot SCADA-controlled processes, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

You must be a certified journeyperson in instrumentation with at least three years of field experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for entry.
• Certified Journeyperson in Instrumentation.
• Three years of journeyperson experience in instrumentation.
• Related electronics/instrumentation maintenance experience is an asset.
• Dual tickets and safety training (LOTO, Confined Space) are assets.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrective and planned maintenance, calibrate, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation systems and equipment.
• Operate test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, frequency meters) and interpret readings.
• Design, fabricate, install and commission new instrumentation systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
• Maintain calibration logs and prepare reports; support SCADA/process control explanations to operators.
• Respond to call outs and troubleshoot complex equipment; comply with all safety regulations.
