Job summary

CDN is seeking Journeyperson and Apprentice Electricians (3rd & 4th Year) for Fort St. John, BC. Roles involve installation, maintenance and testing of instrumentation and electrical systems across project sites. Candidates should be flexible on shifts and prepared for varied project conditions.

Prerequisites include a valid Instrumentation Technician trade ticket, Class 5 license and required safety certifications. Oil & gas experience is a plus; pre-employment D&A testing is required.

Qualifications

• Trade ticket - Apprentices or Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean record.
• Valid H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO, and CSTS.
• Oil & Gas experience in construction or maintenance is an asset.
• Ability to work outdoors and at heights in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Follow EHS policies and procedures as directed by HSE.
• Assist with installation, maintenance, and replacement of instrumentation equipment.
• Perform calibrations with basic and advanced test equipment such as Hart Communicators.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and commission instrumentation systems with minimal supervision.
• Collect QAQC documentation and support project reporting and compliance.
• Demonstrate knowledge of gas, LEL, and fire detection systems and safety shutdowns.
• Work safely in extreme weather and at heights per SOPs.

Job description

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement.

• Role: Journeyperson and Apprentice Electricians (3rd & 4th Year)
• Location: Fort St John, BC preferred. Applicants from other locations are welcome to apply
• Shift: Varies based on project
• Overtime: Project based
• Pre-Employment Condition: Pre-employment D&A test required

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures as directed by the HSE department.
• Assist with installation, maintenance, and replacement of equipment, including instrumentation tubing and advanced systems like RTUs and compressor panels.
• Perform calibrations independently using basic and advanced test equipment such as Hart Communicators and confidently work on pressure, level, and temperature transmitters.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and commission instrumentation systems with minimal supervision; assist in ordering and putting equipment into service.
• Collect QAQC documentation and support Project Managers with project-related reporting and compliance.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of gas, LEL, and fire detection systems, including setup and calibration of safety shutdown devices.
• Work safely in various environments—including extreme weather and heights—while adhering to all safety protocols and SOPs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Trade ticket - Apprentices or Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician.
• A valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract.
• Valid H2S, First Aid, OSSA Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, CSO, and CSTS.
• Experience in the Oil and Gas industry in construction or maintenance is considered an asset.
• Ability to work in various working conditions ranging from outdoors to indoors in a variety of weather conditions and working from heights as needed.
