We’re hiring a Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician in Fort McMurray! If you take pride in safely maintaining a wide variety of industrial equipment to ensure optimum reliability, we want to hear from you!

As an Instrumentation Technician with Suncor, you can expect to learn new things, improve current processes, and work with some of the most talented people in our industry!

Minimum Requirements:
  • Two years of trade experience as a fully qualified Journeyperson
  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson certification or Interprovincial Red Seal Instrumentation certificate
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature, level, and flow instrumentation and controls
  • Prior experience with test equipment related to the instrumentation trade
  • Ability to read and work from P&ID's, loop diagrams, data sheets, etc.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Key Accountabilities:
  • Execute planned maintenance and response work
  • Perform walk-downs and assist in building energy isolation packages
  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot all types of instrumentation and controls
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed and equipment deficiencies
  • Provide safety, cost, and operational improvement feedback
  • Participate in developing and following maintenance procedures
Location & Other Key Details:
  • This position is located at our Base plant in Fort McMurray, AB
  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders, and work on elevated sites such as scaffolds and towers in various environments, both indoor and outdoor, including confined spaces
