Your Responsibilities
The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer is responsible for I&C engineering for various projects, ranging from small maintenance tasks to large multi-year programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reviewing and developing instrumentation and controls engineering, drawings, and documents in accordance with feasibility, standards, codes, and K+S Potash Canada's (KSPC) quality specifications.
- Conducting automation design and analysis for networks, instrumentation, control schemes, interlocks, and communications.
- Estimating costs and budgets for KSPC projects within the scope of technical expertise and project complexity.
- Ensuring proper deployment, standardization, and use of software design and analysis tools.
- Maintaining KSPC’s technical data related to the I&C discipline.
- Collaborating with peers to maintain, update, and define KSPC’s design specifications and core documents for I&C scope.
- Ensuring quality in I&C engineering and design for both internal and external projects.
- Coordinating with drafting supervision and technical engineers to maintain and modify installations following change management procedures.
- Providing technical support for KSPC's Plant Control System (ABB 800xA) and associated networks.
- Supporting K+S Potash Canada’s auxiliary systems, including fire alarm, access control, and CCTV.
- Creating and reviewing material take-offs, capital cost estimates, constructability plans, and related documentation.
- Evaluating new and existing technologies for their applicability to KSPC's Bethune I&C infrastructure.
Your Profile

- An Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (B.Sc., with ability to register as EIT or P. Eng with APEGS) or an Instrumentation Technologist.
- Experience with ABB 800xA is preferred.
- Experience with AVEVA Instrumentation or other database-driven design tools is preferred.
- Self-motivated with proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Effective meeting facilitation skills.
- Potash industry experience is preferred.
