Full Time, Contract (18 months)

The Role:

GCA is seeking Instructor Therapists to work directly with children with ASD and their families in an ABA Classroom or IBI groups. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, writing and implementing behavior plans, data collection, training and supporting caregivers.

What your Day Looks Like:

The Instructor Therapist provides direct service in ABA Classroom/IBI groups under supervision, including:

1. Implementing programs according to treatment plans
2. Carrying a caseload
3. Contributing to each child's curriculum
4. Addressing personal care needs during sessions
5. Monitoring behavioral data and following protocols
6. Preparing teaching materials
7. Recording, graphing data, writing reports and progress notes, and noting exceptional circumstances or program changes
8. Participating in treatment planning with parents and team members
9. Maintaining ongoing communication with Clinical Supervisor
10. Liaising with parents about session progress
11. Modeling and supporting effective strategies; mentoring Junior Instructor Therapists
12. Other duties as assigned

What you Bring to the Role:

• University degree or college diploma in behavioral sciences, social services, psychology, or early childhood education
• Minimum 1 year work experience (2 years preferred)
• Equivalent education and experience considered
• Team lead/mentor experience is an asset
• Understanding of early childhood education, autism, and applied behavior analysis
• Experience working with children with developmental disabilities or Autism
• Availability for evenings, weekends, in-home, and center-based work
• Interest in professional development and clinical skills enhancement
• Strong interpersonal and time-management skills
• Ability to collaborate and accept feedback
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable transportation (TTC, personal vehicle)
• Comfort working in a structured environment
• Dependability and reliability
• Current Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Records Checks
• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination

Working Conditions:

• Ability to wear masks and shields throughout shifts
• Willingness to perform cleaning duties
• Ability to spend most of the day at child's level, sitting on the floor or child-height chairs
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift children (up to 20 kg), and move furniture/equipment as needed
