Job summary

Camosun College's Welding Department is seeking casual/on-call instructors to teach a range of welding courses. Candidates must have a Red Seal and relevant tickets, plus strong MS Office skills and teaching experience.

Availability for day shifts (8am–3pm) is required, with a focus on safety, industry standards, and Indigenous learner inclusion. Ideal candidates bring diverse industry experience including code work and a commitment to sustainable practices within a BC post-secondary

Qualifications

• Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement.
• BC PWP7 and PWP10 pressure tickets.
• Computer literacy including MS Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
• Teaching experience and at least one year of coaching/mentoring/leadership experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Teach welding across all levels and types; day shift 8am–3pm availability.
• Demonstrate commitment to scholarship of teaching and learning and to student success.

At initial placement, for bachelor degree minimum placement is step 11 ($71,846) and maximum initial placement is step 6 ($89,412)

At initial placement, for master degree, journeyperson certificate or professional qualification such as registered nurse degree, minimum placement is step 10 ($75,357) and maximum initial placement is step 3 ($100,527)

Once employed, dependent upon maximum placement, increments-for-service allow for progression to step 2A ($107,266) for employees with step 3 as maximum or to step 1 ($115,129) for employees who reach step 2.

Job Description Additional Information

The Welding Department is seeking qualified applications for casual/on-call teaching opportunities within The School of Trades, Industry and Professional Studies at Camosun College. A successful applicant will have the energy, commitment and motivation required to teach all types and levels of welding and must be available to teach our day shift (8am - 3pm). Diverse industry experience including code work such as shop fabrication, heavy construction and maintenance/repair ( ASME or CSA W59). Experience must include Oxy-Acetylene cutting and welding, SMAW , GMAW , GTAW , plasma cutting and weld fitting. Knowledge of welding machine and related metal cutting and forming equipment operation is also necessary for this position.

Qualifications

• Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement

• Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of MS Office products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
• Teaching experience and a minimum of one year coaching, mentoring, supervisory or other leadership experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Although not required, the following would be considered value-added credentials:

• British Columbia "A" Level welder certificate
• BC Instructors Diploma or equivalent teaching certificate
• BC Class A Pressure Welder Certificate of Qualification
• CSA W178.2 Level 2 or Level 3 Welding Inspector Certification with ASME section VIII /IX endorsement, or a current Welding Examiner Certificate of Competency issued by ABSA
